Martha Gnann is not the Martha J. who married Andrew J. Finklea and lived in Gadsden Co., Florida. Her mother was Sarah, who married a Godwin. This became clearer when I found Martha and Andrew’s marriage certificate, where she is listed as Martha Godwin.

So, to this Martha who also married a Finklea. Mrs. Martha Finkely’s parents were John G. Gnann and Julia Seckinger, according to her death certificate. She died in Savannah. The only Martha Finklea listed in the Savannah city directories has her as the widow of E. or E. E. The 1850 census record for John G. Gnann and Julia shows a daughter Mary M., age 14, a daughter Johanna E, age 11, and Ann, Georgia, and Sarah. The 1860 record has only Julia with Ann, Sarah, Alvilla, and John J, age 3. Martha married 29 Sep 1853.

Ephraim Finklea and Mary M. are in the 1860 census with Samuel E., age 4, and Julia A., age 10m. Ephraim died 27 Aug 1861, and these two children were in orphanages in the 1870 census. There is no Mary Finklea in the 1880 census for Chatham Co. or surrounding counties. There's a Martha Finklea in 1880 with a daughter, Julia, age 21. The 1880 city directory says Martha, wid E. E., r Huntingdon and a Miss Julia Finklea, no address. 1900 has Martha Finklea living with a Hannah Colson, sister, and a John J. Gnann, B in Law. Remember that Mary M had a sister, Johanna, 3 years younger than she, and a "brother", John J., 19 years younger. On 20 Sep 1876, Johanna E. Gnann married Theophalus L. Colson.

In conclusion, Johanna/Hannah Colson is living with, and a sister of, Martha Finklea (widow of E.) AND is the sister of Mary M. (married to Ephraim Finklea); John J. is a 'brother' of Mary M. and Johanna, and living with Martha and Hannah for many years.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
