Dr. James Edward ONeal married Desdamona Elisabeth Funderburk, daughter of George Washington Funderburk and Rachel Louise Bickett, on 14 Dec 1875 in Decatur Co., GA.9,3 James was a dentist. He was enumerated as Head of Household in the census of 1880 in Decatur Co., GA, with others in the household: Desdamona Elisabeth Funderburk, Mildred ONeal and Ada ONeal (his wife and 2 daughters.)10

Dr. James Edward ONeal died on 5 Feb 1882 at age 38.3,11 He was buried in ONeal Cemetery, Rock Pond, Seminole Co., GA.12,13
