Hollingsworth Family

?, #6360
I have been trying to find the parents of Martha Hollingsworth, wife of Richard Barlow, for some time. The only clue I had was a handwritten note on a copy of pages from “Colonial Families of the United States of America”. It said “This George Hollingsworth [Abraham5, George4, Abraham3, Thomas2, Valentine1] married Mary ? and was father to Martha Hollingsworth, who married Richard Barlow. George Hollingsworth’s family Bible mentions his father Abraham and mother Margaret”. I have not found a copy of this Bible.

I have George Hollingsworth’s will dated 23 Jan 1835, in which he names his wife, Mary, and his children, Ellender, John, Kindred, Polla, James, Abbey, and Edney. No Martha, unless entered as a nickname. However, Richard Barlow is named as executor. Richard and Martha were married about 1807.

I kept looking for Hollingsworths and when FamilySearch added Maryland, Delaware, and Georgia wills, although unindexed, I found many Hollingsworth wills. I was hoping to find more clues to Martha’s parentage. This was not the case, but I have added what I found to two lines of Valentine Hollingsworth - those of his sons, Henry and Thomas.

The following people are mentioned in this Hollingsworth Family story: Valentine Hollingsworth, Henry Hollingsworth and Thomas Hollingsworth.
